🍆 Bmw X5 E53 Gearbox Problems
The X5 just had a 2 week holiday at the local BMW store, all they could do was change the trans fluid, which hasn't had much if any effect. Of course, they are wanting to change the whole tranny but on driving it does not slip in any gear and feels very solid. There are 62,000 miles or 100,000 km on the X5, just recently off warranty.
Can anyone help? X5 4.6. Gearbox works fine through the gears and from standing start but if you slow down to virtually a stand still and go to accelerate before stopping it struggles to select/get a gear and can snatch quite harsh at times. Don't do it often. Anyone know about the torque converter or could it be gearbox?
Trans Fail Prog means the gearbox electronic gears from 1 -4 will not be selected by the main gear computer, BMW X5'S WERE BUILT WITH A FAIL PROOF GEAR ( 5TH GEAR ) when the gearbox components fail and trans Fail Progrm appears then the electronic gears 1- 4 shutdown and the car puts itself into 5th gear because it knows there is a problem.
